OUR JOURNEY
CASA WAYUU
Honoring tradition. Empowering artisans. One mochila at a time.
A journey that Began in Cabo de la Vela, Colombia.
Casa Wayuu was born from a deep admiration for the Wayuu people — their resilience, their culture, and their vibrant artistry. While traveling through the northern deserts of Colombia, we were captivated by the beauty of the mochilas, each one woven with meaning, heritage, and soul.
We knew these pieces deserved to be seen and cherished around the world. That’s how Casa Wayuu began — not just as a store, but as a bridge between cultures.

What makes our Mochilas unique.
Every mochila is handmade by Wayuu women in La Guajira using traditional weaving techniques passed down for generations. These bags are not factory-made. They take anywhere from 3 to 18 days to create — each stitch is a symbol, each pattern tells a story.
Did you know? The patterns (or kanaas) often reflect nature, dreams, and the worldview of the Wayuu people.
Empowering Indigenous Artisans.
At the heart of Casa Wayuu is our mission: to uplift the Wayuu community through fair wages, direct collaboration, and respect for cultural traditions.
When you buy a mochila from us, you’re not just buying a bag — you’re helping a Wayuu woman support her family, preserve her heritage, and maintain her independence.

Sustainable, slow, and soulful.
We believe in slow fashion. Our pieces are crafted with care, not mass-produced. Each mochila is one-of-a-kind, just like the woman who made it — and the person who chooses to wear it.
Sustainability means honoring the earth, the people, and the pace of real craftsmanship.
